Christmas cards for the community!

This year in St. Kevin’s, we are working together to obtain our first Amber Flag! (The Pieta Amber Flag Initiative recognises the individual efforts of primary schools in creating healthy, inclusive environments that support mental health and well-being). We have recently set up an Amber Flag Committee, made up of both staff and student representatives. At our most recent meeting, we discussed how volunteering and doing kind deeds for others can help boost our own mental health and the wellbeing of others, and we discussed how it also allows us to better connect with our community.

Well done to the 5th and 6th Class boys who recently made Christmas cards for residents in Tymon North Community Unit and Sally Park Nursing Home. The children designed the cards and wrote some lovely messages inside them. This activity was a great reminder to the children that Christmas is a time of giving as well as receiving, and also to reach out to others in the community during this festive period. The residents were delighted to receive their cards, and it certainly brought some Christmas cheer!
